Come out and join us for a day of ice climbing in the Ghost. You might be cold all day, your hands might get wet, and if it comes wore to worse, your feet will get soaked crossing a river or breaking through the ice into a slush pool in one of the canyons. There will be a bombardment of ice chunks falling down trying to scare you. After all this is over and you are tired, cold and wet, you may have to dig the truck out of a snow drift or cut and push it out of the ice. MAYBE you will be lucky and just have a nice day.
We will climb something in the WI3 range, or go for an easy WI4 (one which normally would be W 3 to 3+ ;-) ) but nothing harder than that. The route selection will be done by the leaders depending on weather, temperatures and how we feel that day. Depending on our objective, we may climb as one group or split into two parties. Some potential objectives are Albatross, the Unforgiven, Dead Bird, Sunshine, Valley of the Sun etc.
This trip is part of the annual ACC ice review in the Ghost. I will drive in with my 4x4 and should have two seats free for participants of our trip. Please note, that I will camp over night with all the other ACC dudes and go climbing with some friends on Sunday as well (not a official ACC trip). Therefore I will not drive out on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. There should be enough people driving out on Saturday evening if you can't or don't wanna stay out there for the night.
Even though it won't be a super hard route, you need to know the basics of rock/ice climbing. You should be able to give a belay, know how to rap down a multi pitch route, etc.
Required Items to Bring:
I will send out a specific gear list as soon as we got the group together.
