Come join us at the Sequoia Supply shop on Wednesday March 25, for another Sequoia Supply Backcountry Beta evening.

Come anytime after 6:45pm to socialize and network - the presentations will start at 7:00pm and aim to wrap up the evening by 9pm.

This month's topic is BEAR/WILDLIFE SAFETY AND AWARENESS TRAINING

We are charging $10 per person to cover the cost of inert spray and the presenter's travel expenses. Kids are free.

Discounts on bear spray and accessories will be available at the event!

We can take your old/expired bear spray for disposal.

SUMMARY:

Come refresh your wildlife safety knowledge, learn how to avoid and handle encounters with wildlife, find out easy ways to find important wildlife related information and get some hands-on practice with inert bear spray. There will be time for a Q & A session and we will discuss how you can play a role in improving human-wildlife coexistence.

THE PRESENTER:

Nick de Ruyter is the WildSmart Program Director at the Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley in Canmore and enjoys delivering educational programming to diverse groups of residents and visitors! Prior to joining the Biosphere Institute, Nick spent 8 years working as a commercial "bush" pilot in the Canadian Arctic. After hanging up his wings, he continued to work up north managing remote mining camps, which is where he first became involved in human-bear conflict issues while dealing with polar and grizzly bears in camp. In his free time, Nick likes to be outdoors skiing, mountain biking and hiking with his wife and 2 kids.
