March 22 update: Brent confirmed the seven participants on the attendees list can proceed with their payment of $145.
This course
is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship Program) organized by the ACC Calgary
Section jointly with PeakStratagem’s ACMG Mountain Guide Brent Peters, with a
target 5:1 participant-to-guide ratio.
Alpine Mentorship Program Goals
The AMP program focuses on developing safe skills for summer and winter
mountaineering, including rope systems for glacier travel, crevasse rescue,
trip planning and navigation. Learning and using safe and efficient travel is
considered more valuable than reaching a summit.
Required
Mountain Skills and Experience
The ideal
participant has done a few ski mountaineering trips and wants to start or is
already leading similar trips. This AMP level 2 & 3 event is suitable for
intermediate to advanced skiers comfortable with steep snow slopes. Participants need to have completed an AST1 course and
an intro to mountaineering course (basic rope systems and ice climbing skills) at a minimum. Regarding fitness level,
participants will need enough stamina to complete a 10-hour day at a moderate
pace with 1,700 meters of elevation gain. With those pre-requisite skills
under your belt, this trip is your chance to take charge and expand your skills
while under the mentorship and coaching of a mountain guide.
Costs 7 participants:
$145 per person The minimum
group size is 3. The trip coordinator will adjust the course cost based on the
number of participants. Please wait until the cost is finalized before making
your payment.
