Itinerary:

Following a show of interest in overnight trips at a recent info night, this is the first in what may become a series of multi-day ski/split outings and related skill review/practice sessions. With great optimism that this will continue, an acronym has been cooked up for this new project; Traverses, Routes And Camps for Ski/Spilt (TRACS).

Here's the plan for outing #1:

- Head out to Golden Thursday night (February 12) and stay somewhere cheap and cheerful (e.g. Rondo, Dreamcatcher)

- Friday morning, drive out to Bostock trailhead in Glacier National Park (Rogers Pass) and ski into Farm Pass, setup camp

- Head out skiing each day in the area (February 14, 15, 16)

- Pack up, ski down to the trailhead and drive back to Calgary on February 17 (Tuesday)

Downhill ski ability should be advanced. The ability to actively participate in discussions about conditions and daily trip options, contribute towards making decisions in the field and bring positive camp energy are all needed. AST 2 and relevant area experience (e.g. Rogers Pass) would be very beneficial.

Required Items to Bring:

There will be a pre-trip planning meeting where the individual and group items will be discussed and finalized. We have to carry it all in and out, so choices will need to be made! We will need to secure trip-specific overnight parking passes from GNP (hopefully not a hassle), in addition to the requirement that everyone has an annual individual GNP winter permit and an associated GNP vehicle permit and an annual park pass for anyone driving. The annual individual and vehicle winter permits for GNP must be secured in advance (online quiz and application process).
