Itinerary:

This is a two-day ski leadership course with Teresa Yau (Ski Guide, Asst Alpine Guide) for new/aspiring ski trip leaders.  The course will focus on both technical and soft leadership skills as relevant to leading backcountry ski trips.

Participants should have AST-1, and if possible, AST-2 and be comfortable skiing in all backcountry conditions.  No rental gear other than in emergencies, and be familiar with and comfortable on  your split or ski gear.


Cost includes two days with the guide - accommodation is not included.  Participants are responsible for their own transport and for providing the guide transport to/from Canmore.


Cost is $277 per person based on 6 participants.  A minimum of 4 is needed to run the course, but cost will be higher for 4 or 5 people.  If the cut off date is reached with fewer than 6 signed up, all participants will need to agree to a higher cost to run the course ($385 for four, $310 for five).

Risks/hazards include but are not limited to avalanches, cold weather, collisions with other skiers/trees/rocks, falls, frostbite, hypothermia, gear failure, rock/ice/snow fall.

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
