This event
is a virtual info night for a new group potentially launching this fall - SNOW! The idea is to have a group of people who head out together (at least) monthly over a
whole season of skiing/splitboarding in the Rockies (and maybe further west). This will allow the group to learn from
each other, track the progression of conditions over a full season and form
connections that are hopefully the start of a ski/split network that continues into the future.
This is a
work in progress, so this info session is intended to gauge interest, run
through the concept for SNOW and gather feedback from people interested in
joining. SNOW is not an intro / beginner to backcountry program –that's covered by BITS
and that program will get underway later this fall.
People who would get the most out of
SNOW will probably have a couple of seasons of backcountry experience with ACC
trips, friends and/or guides (~15+ days out), AST 1 minimum with AST 2 as
a plus, wilderness first aid and crevasse rescue/glacier travel training would also
be a plus. The downhill level will probably be 'advanced' (black/double black) with uphill elevation in the 1000m+ range. If you already have a strong network of ski/split partners, SNOW probably isn’t the right thing for you.
If this
might be of interest, please join the virtual info night or get in touch with me
afterwards if this time doesn’t work for you.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
