The guide for this intensive, applied skills course is ACMG guide Brent Peters who has assisted the Calgary Section in the development of the Alpine Mentorship Program (AMP). Participants will be instructed, coached and mentored by an ACMG guide to learn and develop their skills, in order for members to be active participants in, and lead, safe and successful trips.
Price includes 2 days of guided instruction and climbing.
Day 1 - Meet in Exshaw. The day will be spent
reviewing and developing alpine rock skills. Skills may include anchors,
transitions, short pitching, multi pitch skills, leading a rope, and
other skills that will be useful in the alpine. Day 1 route will likely be Tall Ships in Grotto finishing at the Recharted Sea.
Day 2 - Multi-pitch climbing on Mt Fable. Participants will further use and apply the skills
developed on Day 1, and practice safe and efficient travel in an Alpine
climbing environment. Final section of the route will be confirmed by participants and Brent on Day 1, and is dependent on the
skill level and goals of the member participants.
*For Day 2, we will need a competent rock leader (experience approved by Katherine and Brent) to lead a second rope team. This leader will receive close coaching and instruction from Brent. The course price for this individual will be $236.25.*
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
