Itinerary: |
As far as I can tell, Highway 40 is still open this weekend with just day use areas and Nakiska already closed. Hopefully the RCMP isn't preventing people from parking off the highway. The idea is to climb More Cowbell on Delta Wall. About a one hour approach hike, 10 pitches of bolted climbing up to 5.7 on variable quality rock with a rappel descent (https://topos.tabvar.org/node/282). You need to be able to comfortably climb 5.7, multi-pitch experience preferred, you can provide a lead belay and have rappel experience. If access is being prevented, we can look at heading somewhere else like Kid Goat.
|
Required Items to Bring: |
Helmet, harness, headlamp, climbing shoes, approach shoes, pack large enough to take some group gear, locking carabiners (minimum three), belay/rappel device, rappel extension and backup cord (e.g. Hollow Block).
|
|
Recommended Items to Bring: |
Belay gloves recommended. Anchor tether recommended. This is a full day out. Temperature/sun will be variable and wind is likely. Descent/retreat will take some time - bring sufficient warm and wind/water proof layers to handle the weather.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
