*This is a courtesy post for a Peak Stratagem course. This is not an ACC course*
The instructor for this course is ACMG guide Brent Peters, who has assisted the Calgary Section in the development of the Alpine Mentorship Program (AMP). This course will follow the same curriculum as an AMP Intro to Mountaineering course, and use AMP teaching methodology, to coach participants in learning and developing their skills and competencies to participate in safe and successful alpine trips.
AMP 0 level trips are appropriate for participants with no previous alpine experience.
As it is a beginner program, the guide to participant ratio may be up to 1:8, however, participants will be expected to be part of a rope team on a glacier and to follow alongside the guide.
The cost is $1175 plus GST per participant, and includes 4 days of mentorship with ACMG/IFMGA Mountain Guide Brent Peters. Pricing includes food (3 days inclusive) and 3 nights at the Bow Hut. The program focus is on developing safe skills for summer and winter mountaineering, including rope systems for glacier travel, crevasse rescue, trip planning and navigation. Participants will also have the opportunity to create and execute white out navigation plans. Focus is on safe and efficient travel rather than on reaching summits.
