Itinerary:

The incredible Pat Sheehan Traverse "takes us over a small icefield and into some of the most spectacular terrain the Columbia Icefield has to offer.” The trip includes an ascent of Mount Castleguard and is open to 3 to 6 persons.
We will have a group call on Thursday at 6 pm to finalize plans and discuss group gear.

· Day 1: Ski to Castleguard meadows if we can make it that far, set camp. 1,400m elevation gain, 14 km, 700m drop.

· Day 2: Climb Mt Castleguard with heavy packs. Ski down NW slopes of Castleguard to the Saskatchewan Glacier and ski back to trailhead. 800m elevation gain, 22 km, 1,400m drop.

The 35° slope between the Castleguard meadows and the Saskatchewan glacier is getting steeper and avalanched earlier this year (near fatality). The proposed route avoids that slope.

A backcountry permit is needed to camp at or near the Castleguard Meadows. $13.50 per night per person + $12 group reservation fee, which will make it approx. $18 per person. I will book backcountry permits for everyone on Friday morning.
