Itinerary:

This course is meant to build on the skills acquired in the basic Scrambling Course:

Scrambling techniques, route finding, terrain evaluation and group movement, and spotting and safety on steep terrain are some of the skills that will be reviewed and applied during the ascent of Mt. temple



Required Items to Bring:

Essential gear:

  • Helmet (required)

  • Harness with belay loop

  • 2 locking carabiners

  • General mountaineering axe (non-technical)

  • Footwear suitable for scrambling and steep terrain without being too stiff

  • Weather-appropriate clothing (insulated layers, gloves, shell jacket acceptable for the forecast)

  • Ample food and water for a long mountain day

  • Trekking poles are strongly recommended — they’re useful on both the ascent and descent.

Fitness Level: Participants should be capable of sustained uphill travel with a pack, confident on exposed terrain, and comfortable with basic scrambling.

Notes:

Estimated Cost based on six participants is $145 based on four participants is $215.50, including the shuttle fee (access to Moraine Lake is now restricted).

note: last shuttle is at 19:30

The course will be taught by Pat Delaney who is a ACMG/IFMGA mountain guide since 2001. He has a passion for mountains and has taught this course many times previously.

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.

If your membership renews prior to the activity taking place, you will be required to agree to a new Waiver upon renewal, this new Waiver will apply to your participation in this activity. By proceeding with the booking, you agree to the foregoing waiver terms. Bookings without a current Waiver at the time of the activity will be cancelled.
