Itinerary:

The trip involves flying in to and skiing out of the Freshfield Icefield area following part of the Great Divide ski traverse southern section. This involves a mix of camp-based skiing and a mini-traverse. Here's the current plan from Friday April 25 to Thursday May 1:

- six days total (leaving Friday May 2 open in case of any delays)

- place a vehicle at Bow Summit on Friday night, stay in Golden

- fly in from Golden on Saturday, hopefully first thing in the morning (flight will need to be booked, actual cost to be split)

- if for some reason traversing out is not an option, cost of flying out will be split among the group

- camp at / close to the heli drop off location on the edge of BNP and ski / stay in the Freshfields area Saturday, Sunday, Monday

- head out on Tuesday morning via Lambe col to the Blaeberry drainage

- travel through the Mistaya Lodge tenure on Wednesday over to the Wapta, stay at Peyto Hut (booking will need to be made)

- Thursday, travel out via Peyto Lake to Bow Summit, retrieve the vehicle from Golden and head back to Calgary

If you are interested, please get in touch with me as well as adding yourself to the list. I will try to put together a group that will be complimentary and work together well. This won't necessarily be the people with the most experience or people I've been out with a lot before. I have lots of winter camping / group gear so don't let that hold you back. There is daily glacier travel involved, so crevasse rescue and glacier travel training / experience are essential. Ski/split downhill abilities need to be advanced in variable conditions, fitness/endurance should be excellent. Let me know what your relevant experience is, why you'd want to join the trip and how you typically like to work within a group.

Required Items to Bring:

Camping gear to be worked out among the group. The usual gear requirements for spring ski touring/mountaineering in weather exposed, glaciated terrain; including both ski and foot crampons and an ice axe. Glacier travel kit and avalanche safety gear. Clothing layers for skiing and camping.

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
