Come join us at the Sequoia Supply shop on Thursday February 27, as we continue to build a backcountry community and produce networking opportunities, while aiming to provide valuable insight, provoke thought, and promote discussion.
Come anytime after 6:45pm to socialize and network - the presentations will start at 7:00pm and aim to wrap up the evening by 9pm.
This month's topic is;
Introduction to Ice Climbing with Patrick Lindsay (Owner of Ridgeline Guiding Services and ACMG Full Alpine & Apprentice Ski Guide)
The aim of the clinic is to provide information and encouragement to try ice climbing. If you have ever thought about trying ice climbing or have wondered if this is for you, come out and meet Patrick and hear what is involved in trying it out and getting started.
Patrick is going to focus on the following topics;
How to get started (hiring a guide! Half day teaser, full day intro etc)
Equipment required (rental options etc)
Where to go/locations for beginners
Safety considerations (avalanche, overhead, climbing related etc)
An introduction to ice technique using a real person demo on the ice wall that Sequoia has constructed in their yard.
This clinic is aimed at beginners looking for information on trying ice climbing, but the evening is open to all experience levels looking to socialize/network.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
