Itinerary:

This will be a relatively easy alpine climbing week end to the bugs

Potential Objectives: West ridge of Pigeon Spire would be the main objective of the trip, Brenta Spire and Eastposts Spire would be good plan B or warm up/recovery trips.

Fitness/Skill Expectations:  You must be prepared for a long day in the mountains and familiar with glacier travel, including the use of crampons and ice axe as well as crevasse rescue.

Participants will be required to send a list of objectives that they have completed that are similar in difficulty to objectives they are looking to climb in the Bugaboos. Because we are climbing in pairs, the minimum ability that is required is that at least one person in the party can lead competently and efficiently on glacier and sustained 5th class rock and the second needs to also be able to climb efficiently, give a safe lead belay; in addition all participants must have rock rescue and crevasse rescue.

Logistics:  The plan is to drive from Calgary on Saturday morning, hike to Applebee Campsite (or Kain hut if we manage to get some spots, currently lots are available for sunday night). Sunday will be the day for the main objective. The plan is to climb something shorter on Monday before hiking out and driving back to Calgary.

There is a possibility to drive on Friday night and camp near the trailhead to have time to do a short climbing trip on Saturday too.

Screening: Event attendees will be screened to ensure they have the necessary skills and experience to complete this climb.  Sign-up is not first come first served, and attendees will be selected at the discretion of the trip leader.

If we haven't climbed together recently send me a quick email at: mathurin.romand@gmail.com explaining your experience, fitness, previous trips this season and why your a good fit for the trip.

Weather:  The trip is weather dependent.

Required Items to Bring:

Helmet, harness, rappel/belay device, a few locking biners, double length sling, glacier travel kit, boots, crampons, ice axe, warm clothes, food, water, rock shoes, anything else you might need.

Detailed list will be discuss with the group before Sunday.

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
