Itinerary: |
The plan is to climb 1 or 2 of the short multi pitch routes in the Kid Goat Buttress area. I will be leading the climbs. The approach is approx 1.7kms and 220m without much of that elevation gain coming until later after you navigate around the Resource Recovery/Landfill. Approx 1km in you will slowly begin to gain more elevation. The climbs consists of 4-6 pitches of trad climbing with some fixed protection with grades from 5.6 up to 5.9. The descent follows a trail from the top of the climbs but includes either some short sections of down scrambling or a rappel/lower. Participants must be competent at belaying a leader, and comfortable moving over moderate scrambling terrain and comfortably climbing 5.6 up to 5.9 outdoors and be on the move for 4-7 hours. Please send a brief description of your experience level & abilities including relevant climbs you have been on in the past.
|
Required Items to Bring: |
Please bring climbing harness, helmet, 2 locking carabiners, 1 120cm sling or personal anchor system, belay device with locking carabiner, a backpack you are comfortable climbing with (15-25L), rock climbing shoes, water and food to sustain you for up to 7hrs. Any medications you might need. Good hiking/approach shoes as we may be walking off for the descents.
|
|
Recommended Items to Bring: |
Chalk, sunglasses and belay gloves are optional but recommended. Option to carry in a larger pack to bring extra layers, extra snacks if you like as we can return to the base of the routes after our descent.

Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
