Itinerary:

A one day course to learn, review and practice crevasse rescue skills.  Techniques to be covered include dividing the rope for glacier travel, team tractor pull, basic2:1 drop loop and 6:1 rescue system.  Course content can be adapted to the experience level of the group.


Required Items to Bring:

Sturdy hiking shoes, Harness, helmet, 120 cm sewn sling, 240 cm sewn sling, three non locking carabiners, three locking carabiners, 13.5” hollowblock (or 1.5 m x 7 mm prusik), 5 m x 7 mm cordelette

Notes:

Sean Isaac is an ACMG alpine guide specializing in ice and mixed instruction.  He has been ice climbing for 30 years and guiding for the past 20.  He is the author of the ACC « Ice Climbing Leaders Field Handbook » and « How to Ice Climb » by Falcon.  He has also written the how-to book « Mixed Climbing » and the guidebook « Mixed Climbs in the Canadian Rockies ».

No refunds are provided unless a suitable participant can be found.


*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
