Itinerary:

Learn the ins and outs of clipping bolts. How to clip efficiently and properly, how to manage the rope while leading, how to belay, as well as other safety measures to consider while leading, falling, and catching. We will also look at reading a guidebook, building and cleaning anchors. Everything to take your gym skills to the outdoors and do it on your own.

Prerequisites: You must be able to top rope belay and be familiar with climber commands, figure 8 and partner checks. If there are questions about qualifications, reach out to Julie Morter.
Registration will be first-come first-served based on payment. Please email Julie Morter with confirmation of payment.

Notes:
The course will be taught by Sarah Hueniken, a full ACMG Alpine Guide. Sarah Hueniken has been living and guiding in Canmore for more than 15 years. As a full ACMG Alpine guide, she spends her summers guiding rock and alpine and her winters guiding ice and mixed routes. Having climbed for over 20 years, Sarah has traveled and worked in various places throughout the US, Mexico, South America and Asia to explore the mountains of the world. Highlights have included a first ascent of a 6000m peak bordering Tibet (Sachun 5.10+ M5), new ice lines in Iceland, participating in various climbing competitions and achieving a personal goal of climbing 5.13.
