We will leave Canoe meadows about 8:30am and head to Wasootch for a day of cragging and practice. We can follow the interests of the group. There's spots to practice anchor building, we can play with multi-pitch skills, leading/mock leading, and of course set up some ropes to climb. We will set up ropes in the 5.6 range, but if anyone on the trip wants to lead more difficult routes we can set those up too. We'll probably head to D slab for a good part of the day and set up multiple ropes there.
Beginners are welcome. It would be great if you have belay skills, but even if you don't, we can belay you!
Required Items to Bring:
Harness, climbing helmet (a must at Wasootch for rockfall hazard), belay device (some form of assisted brake is strongly preferred, it can be something like a juul device or more like a gri gri), locking biner, belay gloves.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Anything you want to be comfortable at the crag for the day. A packable chair, hammock, sunscreen, rope friendly bug spray, food and water, etc. If you want to practice anchor building, lead climbing, multi-pitching etc. bring whatever you need for that (slings, 7mm cord, draws, biners, anchor package).
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
