Itinerary: |
Come
and join us for a day of climbing in the Ghost’s newest sport climbing area -
Shithead Canyon. We developed this area on and off in the last few years
and it currently offers four bolt protected routes in a shady canyon. Two of
them are two pitches long and all are in the range from 5.10a to 5.11a or b.
The length of each pitch is in between 25 and 30 m and the approach is less
than 30 minutes with hardly any elevation gain. We
still have two projects there which we want to try that day, but as not
everybody owns a 4x4 we want to give two more people the opportunity to join that day and
sample the already open climbs (six pitches) on the excellent rock Shithead
offers. As
we will mostly work on our projects, you will have to be independent and we
will need an even number of people to make it work (preference will be given to
people who bring their own climbing partner, but single sign-ups are welcome as
long as we have two of them at the end). As you can see on the grades, this is
not a beginner trip and no top ropes will be set up by us. We have done our best to clean the routes, and the rock in
the canyon is generally pretty good, but they are still new routes and have
seen very few ascents so be prepared for some dirt and possibly some loose
rock.
If we haven’t climbed with you recently, please
send us a quick email outlining your climbing experience and tell us a bit
about yourself. Maybe even include one or two reference who can vet you.

Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
