Itinerary:

We'll be climbing Mother's Day Buttress on Cascade, with an early start in order to not get backed up behind too many other parties. There is a 30 min 3rd class scrambling approach, 8 pitches of 5.6 trad climbing (bolted anchors), and a descent that is mostly a trail but includes some short sections of 3rd class down-climbing and a rappel. Participants must be competent at belaying a leader, and comfortable moving over moderate scrambling terrain. While not required to lead, participants should be able to comfortably climb up to 5.7 outdoors and be on the move for 4-7 hours. If you are interested to lead some pitches, I'm happy to share the lead, but also happy to lead the whole thing. Any experience level is welcome, provided you meet the basic requirements mentioned above.  If I haven't climbed with you recently, please send a description of your experience level & abilities including relevant climbs you have been on in the past and whether you are interested in leading or seconding.

Required Items to Bring:

Climbing gear (can discuss in detail with selected participants), and a backpack you are comfortable climbing with. We won't be returning to the start of the climb, so everything you bring is coming up & over with us - choose wisely!

Notes:

Specific hazards related to this trip include but aren't limited to: Rockfall, falling, equipment failure, human mistakes, wild creatures (bears, goats, sheep, ticks, etc), weather, other climbers, fatigue, etc.  Please review the ACC waiver in detail before joining.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
