Itinerary:

Rock Rescue 101- Ever wonder what would happen if you or your partner got hurt while climbing? Learn some basics on how to perform essential self rescue techniques with minimal gear. You will learn how to escape a belay for a leader and a second, ascend a fixed or stuck rope and practice safe rappel and descent practices if you lose your belay device or have an injured partner.

To register for this course:

1) Sign up for the waiting list

2) The trip coordinator (Julie) will approve you for the course, so long as there is space.

3)Once the coordinator has approved you, you will be able to pay for the course. Payment is required to reserves your place on the course. This course is 187.5 (175 + GST and PayPal fees). The ratio will be 6 students to 1 guide


If you need to cancel your registration after you have paid and confirmed your spot, you will be responsible for finding your replacement. 


Closer to the course date you will be contacted by Sarah with more details on equipment and location.

Required Items to Bring:
Personal climbing gear, plus extra cord and lockers- Sarah will send a list for the course. 

Notes:
The course will be taught by Sarah Hueniken, a full ACMG Alpine Guide. Sarah Hueniken has been living and guiding in Canmore for more than 15 years. As a full ACMG Alpine guide, she spends her summers guiding rock and alpine and her winters guiding ice and mixed routes. Having climbed for over 20 years, Sarah has traveled and worked in various places throughout the US, Mexico, South America and Asia to explore the mountains of the world. Highlights have included a first ascent of a 6000m peak bordering Tibet (Sachun 5.10+ M5), new ice lines in Iceland, participating in various climbing competitions and achieving a personal goal of climbing 5.13. Sarah also works with Chicks with Picks, NOLS, and is an Arcteryx athlete

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
