AMP 1: Mt Hector 11000er

This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship Program) organized by ACC Calgary Section jointly with ACMG Mountain Guide Brent Peters from PeakSTRATAGEM.

More information on the AMP program can be found here:

acccalgary.ca

The focus for this event is going to be mentorship and skills development beyond the technical to enhance your leadership skills.  This is an AMP 1 event and is suitable for beginner mountaineers who have been on a glacier once or twice, 3-person crevasse rescue, completed a 2-day Snow and Ice course and have done steep snow slope climbs as part of their scrambling trips. These members have done only one alpine trip such as Athabasca and want to do more of similar trips such as Aberdeen, Harrison, Lefroy or similar.

The cost for this event is $160 and includes 1 long day of mentorship with an ACMG guide from PeakSTRATAGEM.

The focus will be on developing safe skills for summer and winter mountaineering including rope systems for glacier travel, crevasse rescue, trip planning and navigation. Participants will also have the opportunity to create and execute white out navigation plans. Focus will be on safe travel rather than on summits.

This is your chance to take charge while under the mentorship and coaching of an alpine guide.
