My trip destination will depend on avalanche conditions, weather/visibility, participants avalanche training and fitness as well as mountain/glacier travel experience. Options will be announced and discussed in person at the event.

Required Items to Bring:

Mandatory: AST2 I want you to understand the reasoning behind decisions made before and during the trip. I want us to discuss decisions and speak the same language. I expect getting input from you.  Also mandatory: 1. a digital transceiver with a minimum of 2+ antennae. Check your batteries and bring spare ones double-bagged in your pack. 2. a snow shovel 3. a probe 4. backcountry ski gear you know how to use. Split-boarders join us as long as your transitions are efficient.

Recommended Items to Bring:

Food/drink, extra clothing, any required personal items, sunglasses/ski goggles and headlamp, sunscreen, camera, FRS radio.

If we are going to a summit, an ice axe, helmet, and boot crampons might be needed. Ski crampons may be an asset and have come in handy across the season.

Notes:

If you are keen please email me and:

  • Describe your ski comfort level (e.g. OK on Blue runs, struggle on Black Diamonds, I do the Delirium Dive blindfolded, I'm new to this).
  • Describe your avalanche training.
  • Describe your backcountry ski experience.
  • Describe how you keep your fitness up to snuff when not in the hills
  • As some objectives may include glacier travel, indicate crevasse rescue and glacier travel experience.

  • You will not be moved to the participant list without submitting this info.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
