Itinerary: |
Friday - Arrive at Wheeler Hut. Some may want to ski on Friday as well. Saturday - Late arrivals meet their groups or arrive at Wheeler. Various trips, and potluck dinner (optional). Sunday - Trips and return home.
For trips we hope to have a variety of options offered by club leaders, and will also send out a survey prior to the weekend to help people connect with other riders if anyone wants to plan on the fly.
Anyone who can't make it Friday has the option of arriving Saturday morning, but cost will be the same.
Since Wheeler is a ski in hut, we won't be having supper provided on Saturday night as is typical at review weekends. Instead we will be having an optional potluck for dinner on Saturday night so people can just haul in a dish to share. Saturday evening we'll have some games/prizes as well. Wheeler is a very well stocked hut in terms of kitchen supplies. We will try to keep a large amount of snow melted and water boiled at all times, but if you have a jetboil or other isobutane type stove you might want to bring it to boil water for personal use as it can be difficult to keep up with demand in a full hut. If you bring a white gas stove you will need to use it outside only.
Participation on the weekend is first come first served. You do not have a spot reserved until you have paid. The cost for the weekend is $130.
A minimum of AST1 training is required to participate in this event.

Recommended Items to Bring: |
We will bring in some boxes of wine to share with everyone on Saturday. Beyond that it is BYOB (sorry, I'm not strong enough to haul beer in for everyone!)

How to Get There: |
Event Directions: |
|
4km West of the Rogers Pass Discovery Centre, park at Illecillewaet parking lot on the south side of the highway (you'll need to go past and turn around if you are coming from Golden). Ski up the trail about 30 vertical meters. Turn left at the top of the hill and follow the abandoned train right of way to the hut. It's a short and easy ski in (once you are up the hill) and often well packed, so it's a good one to drag a toboggan or duffel in if you want to carry some extra gear or comforts for the hut. Parking passes will be sorted out prior to the trip.

Notes: |
Much of the area requires the annual or daily winter permit and a winter parking permit. Factor this into your planning for the Powder review if you do not already have a permit. Wait times in the morning at the visitor's centre can be significant to get a daily permit. Carpooling is encouraged to save gas and ensure enough parking space for everyone.

Registration fees are non-refundable.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
