Drive out to Nordegg on Friday evening, ice climb Saturday and Sunday and then return Sunday night. I have booked a 6-bed room in the Nordegg hostel to accommodate our group.
Everyone will need their own ice climbing gear, sleeping gear and breakfast/lunch food. We will coordinate a potluck on Saturday night.
The trip will cost $75/person. This covers the room booking + GST, rounded up to the nearest whole dollar. Payment will be required to confirm your spot on the trip. I will move people off the wait list in the first half of January and contact everyone for payment by the end of the month.
Carpooling will be coordinated based on plans for the weekend. We will also organize club ropes.
When you register, please send me a note detailing the following information. This trip is open to all skill levels, but I need to make sure the composition is manageable as a whole: I probably can't manage 6 complete beginners on my own!
-Summary of ice climbing experience and skill level
-Are you interested in leading a group on one or both days? If so, any particular types of objectives?
-Experience and comfort with top-rope belaying, lead belaying and multi-pitch belaying
-Comfort with cleaning routes and rappelling
Required Items to Bring:
Helmet, harness, boots, crampons, tools, belay device, cord, several lockers, 1 million gloves, warm clothes
Recommended Items to Bring:
Beverage of choice for Saturday night, sense of adventure
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
