Itinerary:

Session 1 of 2: I would like to invite any aspiring trip leaders who want to start leading NON-TECHNICAL trips this winter to join me with their skis (cross-country or skate skis) or snow-shoes. I will give you an introduction on how to lead non-technical trips - theory short and sweet by the parking lot - then we will go for a few loops during which we will stop and I'll share group management tips.

By Non-Technical trips we mean: cross-country skiing, skate skiing, snowshoeing and ski touring or any winter travels in non-avalanche terrain. Also in-city or close-by-towns events such as running, biking, walking or hiking as well as climbing gym or social events.

I am a firm believer that our section can and will benefit of more such Non-Technical trips to be organized because of the positive impact those Non-Technical sports and outings have on our fitness. I am also convinced that these at times shorter outings are a spring board to many more adventures in our beautiful Rockies. So don't be shy & join us!

Anyone interested in joining, please review the following TWO documents:

- on our ACC Calgary Section Trip Leader tab, the How To become a Trip Leader page and..

- the New Non-Technical Leader Questionnaire.

and bring questions and concerns so we talk about it.

Session 2 of 2: will consist of a 1 hour online meeting to discuss itineraries, show you how to post your trips on the ACC calendar and tips & tricks from an experience trip leader.. plus all your questions of course.

Required Items to Bring:
Your skate or cross-country skis or snowshoes, poles and shoes. Layers, gloves, toque, buff, warm socks, hand & feet warmers if needed.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Drink & snacks and a change of clothes for after if you sweat a lot and have a long drive home.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
