Robin Owens and I did the first of what we christened as the "Ski Summit Series" on Jan 26 2014... And they've been on my calendar of ACC events ever since. Typically they have a summit in mind but mother nature needs to cooperate.
I would like to target a summit but of course, conditions may prohibit that, in which case I will try to find a tour. The destination will depend on weather, snow conditions, avalanche conditions, and participants experience. As a representative example, past outings include Burstall Pass Peak, Healy Pass Peak, Little Temple, Bow Peak, Purple Pk and Lipalian Mtn, Mt Haffner, Mt Field, Panorama Ridge, Smutwood. For this trip, currently think of Panorama Ridge or South Burstall Pass. Actual destination will be announced closer to event date.
Required Items to Bring:
Mandatory: Transceiver (digital 2+ antennae), snow shovel, probe, backcountry ski gear, and knowledge of how to use them (AST1 minimum)
Recommended Items to Bring:
Food/drink, extra clothing, any required personal items, sunglasses/ski goggles and headlamp, sunscreen, camera.
If we are going to a summit, an ice axe, helmet, and boot crampons might be needed. Ski crampons may be an asset and have come in handy across the season.

You will not be moved to the participant list without submitting this info!
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
