| Itinerary: |

Course Content: A one-day course ($ 187) designed to introduce the concepts of drytooling—the use of ice axes and crampons on rock in a winter setting. Topics covered will include safety considerations, tool handling, pick placements, crampon footwork, efficient movement and resting strategies.
Prerequisite: No previous ice or mixed experience is necessary for this course. However, some climbing experience is preferable whether it be indoor/outdoor, lead/top-rope or rock/ice. The only real prerequisite is that participants must be able to offer a safe top-rope belay.

Equipment: Participants should have their own
harness, helmet, belay device, boots and
crampons (mono-points are ideal but not
necessary). I can supply extra ice tools.

| Recommended Items to Bring: |
|
Other obvious items to bring are warm clothes
and a down jacket considering you will be
sitting around listening to lecturing. Bring
your own food for lunch and snacks and a
warm/hot drink. It might not be a bad idea to
bring a camera to take photo's and assist you
in
the future to look back at the various things
you learned over the course of the day.

Guide Bio: Sean Isaac is an ACMG Alpine Guide specializing in ice and mixed instruction. He has been ice climbing for 30 years and guiding for the past 20. He is author of the ACC “Ice Climbing Leaders Field Handbook” as well as the second edition of “How to Ice Climb” by Falcon. He has also written the how-to book “Mixed Climbing” and the guidebook “Mixed Climbs in the Canadian Rockies”.

Cancellation Policy : no refunds unless the coordinator
cancels a trip in which case participants get a refund (less any non-
recoverable
costs).
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
