Ready to learn how to lead and build anchors with natural gear? Learn how to place gear for leading as well as build anchors for multipitch climbing. Get direct feedback on your gear and test your placements while safely being on top rope.
This course is good for the trad beginner as well as someone who has been climbing trad already but wants more feedback on their gear. You must know how to top-rope belay.
Pending weather, the day will be spent at Louise.
The course cost is 157.5 including tax.

The course will be taught by Sarah Hueniken, a
full ACMG Alpine Guide.
Sarah Hueniken has been living and guiding in Canmore for more than
15 years. As a full ACMG Alpine guide, she spends her summers
guiding rock and alpine and her winters guiding ice and mixed routes.
Having climbed for over 20 years, Sarah has traveled and worked in
various places throughout the US, Mexico, South America and Asia to
explore the mountains of the world. Highlights have included a first
ascent of a 6000m peak bordering Tibet (Sachun 5.10+ M5), new ice
lines in Iceland, participating in various climbing competitions and
achieving a personal goal of climbing 5.13. Sarah also works with
Chicks with Picks, Color the Trails, NOLS, and is an Arcteryx sponsored athlete.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non- recoverable costs).
The Calgary Section of the Alpine Club of Canada is a not for profit / flow through course and trip provider. We organize courses and trips based on member demand and divide any costs that we incur between event attendees. In other words, we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
