Itinerary: |
This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship) program organized by the ACC Calgary Alpine Chair jointly with ACMG Guide Brent Peters and PeakStratagem.
A classic ski mountaineering ascent - Mt Hector. This trip has a little of everything: skiing uphill, bootpacking, glacier travel, and fantastic views. If avalanche conditions or the weather doesn't cooperate another destination may be substituted. You should have AST 1. A sufficiently high level of fitness is needed - the trip is 1517m elevation gain. You should be able to "manage" diamond level terrain at the ski hill in difficult conditions: wind effected snow, powder, spring snow (hard or heavy & wet), etc. You don't have to look pretty, but you do need to be able to ski up and down. Glacier travel will be required. AMP is a mentoring event. In an ideal world you would run and lead this trip (Brent is there to coach you and as back-up). Of course, you are still welcome to attend if you feel leading the trip is beyond your ability.
Please sign up, download this form (LINK), fill it out and send it to Tyler and Clare at tylerhallman@hotmail.com and clareormerod@hotmail.co.uk . We will get you on the trip and let you know you are approved to pay.

Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
