Itinerary:

Peyto Hut is located at the north end of the Wapta Icefield. It offers stunning views and great ski mountaineering!

This trip will be based at the hut and focus on nearby objectives like Trapper Peaks, Mt Habel and Mt Rhondda.

Cost: $515 and includes 4 days of mentorship with a guide and 3 nights of hut accommodation.

This AMP 1event is designed for intermediate to advanced ski tourers that want to expand their winter mountaineering skill set under the mentorship of a guide. The Alpine Mentorship Program gives participants the opportunity to learn by spending 4 days with a PeakSTRATAGEM Guide. It will challenge your navigation, mountaineering, glacier experience, crevasse rescue techniques, snowpack assessment and avalanche forecasting. You will prepare navigation plans, participate in am/pm meetings, lead the group, navigate complex terrain and analyze and discuss avalanche conditions in real time.

Participants will be expected to review the avalanche bulletin and create a trip plan before Thursday February 25 in preparation for a pre-trip group meeting prior to approaching the hut.

While on the icefield we will practice crevasse rescue, route finding and attempt ski mountaineering objectives. Evenings will be spent reviewing what was learned during the day and preparing white out navigation plans for the next day.

Accelerate your learning as you take in the beauty of the Wapta.

**The AMP group will be the only people staying in the hut at this time.**

Please note this is a self-catered event but catering is available from PeakEats at an additional cost and may be coordinated by the trip organizer.

Prerequisites: AST 1, Crevasse Rescue Training, intermediate to advanced level of fitness allowing you to move through mountain terrain, ability to carry a 40 pound pack for 3 days with 1200m elevation gain per day, ability to confidently ski in the backcountry in all weather conditions, and at least some previous experience leading groups.

Send an email detailing your level of experience and relevant skills training to kmartino@telus.net, who will read through it and be in touch with you to let you know if you have been accepted on the trip. Once you have been accepted you will be required to pay within 48 hours via PayPal (found in the additional notes section of the trip post). Once confirmation of payment has been received, you will be moved from the waiting to the attendee list.
