Course Content:
This is a great course for anyone with some navigation understanding who wants to step it up and dive into the digital world and the GAIA and Fatmap Apps specifically.
These are great mapping apps that are used by a majority of serious backcountry travellers, guides, and professionals. They are free to download and use and offer multiple functionalities that a modern GPS would offer.

May be you have it on your cell phone already and only use it to see "where you are" but you are unsure of all it has to offer?
You want to plan routes and trips in the backcountry for the ACC, your friends & family but are unsure how? Or you feel intimidated by electronics and the digital world but your are curious and willing to know!? Then this course if for you!

The course is designed to take place at two different times: we will spend one evening (2hrs) via web conference to dig into the apps, how to plan a trip and transfer waypoints from the comfort of your living-room.

At the end of the session, you will get some homework to practice what you've learned then we will meet another time in person (Yay!) to go in the field for a practice day - field day on snowshoes in the Spray Lakes Valley in K-Country.
The skills you will gain with this course will make you 100% more confident planning a new route and venturing into the backcountry with friends and families.

It is a first paid - first on the course registration. The course fee is $120.00 which includes taxes.

Required Items to Bring:

Transportation to the trailhead - Spray Lakes Valley Kananaskis Snowshoes Mobile phone with GAIA app (this can be downloaded and use for free)
