This event
is for aspiring ski touring leaders, or those who are new to leading
trips. Experienced trip leaders who want
a refresher or want to pass on some of their knowledge to the next generation
of leaders are also welcome. Everyone is
welcome to attend provided you have sufficient downhill ability and fitness
level.
This will hopefully
be the first event in a series. The
first event will be a “how to lead ski touring events”, and “what not to do”. Future events will be more focused on putting
you in the driver seat. Topics for

I am by no
means the authority on leading ski tours.
But I will try to tell you what I know, and we can learn together.
You should
be capable of skiing black diamond terrain (comfortably), and doing vertical of
between 1000 and 1500m at a moderate pace.
If we haven’t skied together before, please send me brief note detailing
your downhill ability, fitness level, and experience. If you like a form can be found at LINK
TO FORM.
Some group
gear (let’s coordinate so we all don’t carry everything): communication device,
radios, tarp, first aid kit, repair kit, matches, multi-tool, ski straps, map,
compass, GAIA or other offline topo map gps for your phone.
Please advise if you need to cancel for any reason.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
Trip Feedback If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
