Length: One short orientation evening (via Zoom) and two field days (OUTDOORS all day). Outdoor days will be working with the various techniques outdoors.
This is NOT a ski course per se, rather it is intended to equip participants to better deal with “non-routine” adverse events in crevasse rescue. Some examples: What if a skier or climber falls in while not roped up? What if a dropped loop doesn't reach? How do I ascend a rope without Prusik cords? What if there is a knot in the rope I am trying to raise with (as may be the case when two ropes have been joined)? This course is for people who have already have good rope handling and crevasse rescue skills and want to be prepared for the realities of crevasse rescue in the cruel world.
The instructor can provide ALL of the following: regular diameter and small diameter dynamic ropes, Spocs, Microtraxions, Tiblocs, etcetera to cover a group this size and provide the proper manufacturer approved devices.
Prerequisites: experienced with rope skills / experience with typical dropped loop crevasse rescue systems.
Required Items to Bring:
Food/ accommodation: meals and accommodations are the responsibility of participants. Bring a bag lunch for both days.
