Itinerary: |
This is intended to be aa make up session for BITS 2021-22 registrants who are unable to make the first (or subsequent) BITS session. Priority will be given first to BITS participants who cannot make one or more sessions, then to BITS participants and finally to other section members.
It will be open to all ski levels, so the pace will be set to the least experienced participant & is likely to be relaxed to moderate. The focus will be on reviewing AST/companion rescue skills, getting gear sorted and understanding the snowpack/conditions at present. It's also a chance to meet the BITS coordinator and ask any questions you might have.
Location will be determined by Friday, based on weather and avy conditions. Options include Burstall Pass, Crowfoot Pass, Bow Summit and Lake Louise area backcountry. Participants are encouraged to do some prep before the trip - avy report, weather and research on the area.
There will not be an official carpool, but if participants need to/wish to carpool, we can make arrangements. We will meet at a place with cell reception (i.e. Stoney Nakoda Casino or Lake Louise) if the final meeting spot does not have reception. Exact meeting time will be based on location, but be prepared for an early start so we can make the most of the daylight.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance: Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
