BITS Info Session (Backcountry-Intro-To-Skiing) - Session 2

Excited about BITS?  Maybe you've never heard of it...  In the intro session we will cover the basics of the BITS program: what to expect on ACC ski tours, gear, fitness, downhill ability, trip Planning/navigation, practical avalanche knowledge.

BITS is a peer led mentoring program consisting of an introductory classroom session followed by a series of ski day trips focused on those new to the backcountry & designed to help you progress as a backcountry skier.  Upon completion of the program participants should feel capable of attending a variety of easy and moderate ski trips with the ACC Calgary Section.   The trips will be held in Dec, Jan and Feb.

Note that participants need to be comfortable skiing blue runs at the resort in all conditions and must be members of the Calgary section.

If you are interested in participating in the BITS program this year, please attend one of the info sessions.  You do not need to attend both information sessions.  Similarly if you are new to backcountry skiing, or new to skiing with the club, but do not plan on enrolling in BITS, please feel free to attend.

*You need to register for the BITS program (registration info & dates to come soon) and the information session separately.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.

Trip Feedback
If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
