Itinerary: |
Let's go cragging at Moose Mountain. Andy has put up more routes, including more easy options (5.7 and up). Take a look at his website (ghostriverproductions.ca) for more info.
This event is open to leaders + followers. You must be able to clean a sport anchor. I am happy to support anyone who wants to dip their toes into leading for the first time (or after a break). I will generally be climbing routes up to 10- with perhaps one or two harder ones, but I am happy to belay people on harder lines. I expect to mostly be at Painted Wall and Memorial wall to stay in the shade. If the morning is cooler, we might squeak in a couple routes at roadside or Beach head buttress.
The crag is approached along canyon creek road. It is about 20-30 minutes walking mostly flat, or 10 minutes biking. I will be bringing my bike, but bikes are not mandatory. Because the crag is right next to the road we can have some people walking and some biking and just meet up at the crag on the side of the road.
If you register let me know if you are planning to lead, if you can bring a rope or draws, and if you plan to bring a bike.

I know wildfire smoke can be an issue and is hard to forecast in advance. If you may need to make a last minute decision about smoke, just let me know in advance of the event that you may need to make a last minute cancellation. I won't blacklist you or anything, but this is important for planning if we are a small group.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
