Itinerary:

We are going for a little early season scouting mission to check out the Mt. Stelfox via Ferrata. For the unfamiliar it is essentially rock climbing aided by metal rungs and safety cables. The Fox is considered an intermediate climb. You can find more information on it here: Via Ferrata Canada

For this trip, as a Covid precaution, in order to minimize the chances of a climber needing close assistance, rock climbing experience is required. You must be comfortable maintaining your own protection as you climb and with some exposed segments. You will also need the general fitness to handle about 180m of fairly consistent climbing.

The plan will be to meet in the parking lot around noon to catch the warmest, and hopefully driest part of the day. The total time on the climb including the approach and walk off is about four hours

Participants must be healthy with no travel outside of Canada in the last two weeks and free from any Covid symptoms. Throughout the trip, including on the approach hike and walk off, we will stay 2m or more apart unless masked. On the climb, climbers will naturally be 2m or more apart. Climbers will be asked to have a mask handy in case we need to be in close proximity at some point on the climb

To join the trip please put your name on the waiting list, and if you haven't climbed with me before, email me a brief description of your climbing experience

Required Items to Bring:
Climbing Harness
Via Ferrata Lanyard (note, this must be specific to climbing via ferrata, rental can be arranged)

Gloves to wear while climbing (lightweight, work gloves or belay gloves work well)
Face Mask
Weather appropriate climbing clothes

Recommended Items to Bring:
Collapsible hiking pole for the walk back down
Sunscreen and climbing equipment friendly bug spray
