Itinerary:

Looking for a 3rd and/or 4th to join us in a ski mountaineering ascent of Mount Hector. This trip has a little of everything: skiing uphill, bootpacking, glacier travel, and fantastic views. If avalanche conditions or the weather doesn't cooperate another destination may be substituted.

You should have AST1 (AST2 preferred). A sufficiently high level of fitness is needed - the trip is 1550m. You should be able to manage diamond level terrain at the ski hill in difficult conditions: wind effected snow, powder, spring snow (hard or heavy & wet), etc. Glacier travel will be required and you must have experience in crevasse rescue. We will be using a lightweight (6mm) rope system so you must be comfortable with this system and have appropriate gear.

To sign up for this event, please add yourself to the waiting list and email Kyle (Kyle.potts@ucalgary.ca) your experience.

Required Items to Bring:

Ski touring kit, glacier travel gear, base layers, warmth layers, hardshell pants/coat, softshell pants/coat, sunglasses, avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel. Hand sanitizer, gloves, mask.

Glacier ropes will be coodinated amongst members.

If you have any questions or not sure what you need just ask.

Recommended Items to Bring:

Meals/snacks/drinks, extra clothing and any required personal items (lip balm, sunscreen, advil, etc).

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

Cancellation Policy
If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.

Trip Feedback
If you have any feedback, positive or negative, concerning this trip or any other, we want to hear from you! You can send any feedback you may have to the Section Chair.
