This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship) program organized by the ACC Calgary Alpine Chair jointly with ACMG Guide Brent Peters and PeakStratagem. You should have AST 1, be able to "manage", not crush, black diamond terrain at the ski hill. You should be able to ski 900m vertical at a reasonable pace. For level 1 participants the expectation is that you have done more than 10 backcountry ski trips and know how to ski down moderate terrain. The goal is to show you how to find great skiing in K-country. As part of the event you will practice trip planning. There is some pre-trip study required – specifically you will prepare a day trip plan for Kananaskis, and provide feedback on plans made by other participants. During the event you will have an opportunity to lead the group through the objective (set up-track, make safe terrain choices, keep the group safe and together, choose ski lines, select safe re-group locations etc).

To sign up for this event, please add yourself to the waiting list and email Clare (clareormerod@hotmail.co.uk) your previous experience.

Once you are approved, please make payment using the PayPal button below. You will then be moved to the participants list.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Clare and she'll get straight back to you.

A detailed gear list will be sent out closer to the time. Transceiver (digital 3 antennas), snow shovel, probe, warm clothing, ski touring gear, sunglasses/ski goggles and headlamp (extra spare batteries). Hand sanitiser and face mask.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Meals/snacks/drinks, extra clothing and any required personal items (lip balm, sunscreen, advil, etc).

Notes:
YOUR PAYMENT METHOD IS AS FOLLOWS:

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

There will be no refund for cancellations. Courses will run regardless of weather unless the guide deems conditions unsafe then a back-up option may be executed. This is to be decided by the guide the evening before.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
