Slowpokes? Well, there's always someone faster than you on the uptrack, likely just not us! If you'd like an easy, friendly paced uptrack (~225v-m/h,~2.5km/h), this ski tour is for you.
If you want to blast up the up-track or blast down the down-track, losing communication with your party mates, this trip is likley not for you.

We will be exploring avalanche terrain so AST-1 certification or better is preferred as well as the ability to ski blue-black runs comfortably. If we have not skied together before and if your club profile does not provide a mini-ski resume (safety training taken, etc), please send me a brief ski bio so that we can assemble an appropriate ski party. Thank you.

Lets meet at the trailhead of Skoki Parking Lot at 9:15am. That's about a 7:30am west-Calgary departure time.

There is no carpool due to C19.

We will sign our waivers at the trailhead. Please printout, complete and bring your own waiver copy for signing, or you can fill one out at the trailhead (I'll bring some blank forms just in case).

Required Items to Bring:

The usual minimum requirements: Your avy sense, a 3-antennae beacon, probe and shovel.

Recommended Items to Bring:
That big smile : -)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:
The trailhead location is Skoki Lodge parking lot area, as shown in the follwing link:

Skoki Trail Trailhead

Notes:

The plan is to gain Purple Peak, about 7.5km in and 875m up. From the Skoki parking lot trailhead, we skin up Skoki Trail, past Temple Lodge, turn right and ascend Wolverine Valley drainage, gain Wolverine Ridge top and follow the ridge up to Purple Peak.

Purple Bowl itself provides about a 280v-m run. Slope is about 40-degrees at the top and will be serious avalanche terrain. On the plus side the Bowl (the 'Guide's Line' from Purple Peak) is of relatively low consequence in having no major terrain traps like trees, boulders, cliffs or gullies, in having slopes that are mostly well supported.
The trickest part may actually be the short exit through some trees from the skier's far right at the bottom of the bowl down to the bottom of the Rock Garden run in the resort.

Before committing to skiing the bowl, let us be prepared, as always, to carefully assess snow conditions as a group.

If avy conditions do not cooperate, there's lots of options up Skoki Trail, including skiing back down our uptrack from Purple Peak.

Cancellation/Partial Attendance:
Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
