This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship Program) organized by the ACC Calgary section jointly with ACMG Guide Brent Peters and PeakStratagem. Either Brent or one of the PeakStratagem guides will be teaching this event.

The David Thompson Highway hosts 2 of the only public via ferratas in North America. How do you safely take someone new to the sport up a via ferrata? This course is aimed at club members who possess basic understanding of top rope and multipitch systems and who can competently climb outdoors at a 5.5 fitness level and are interested in leading via ferrata trips OR anyone who wants to try out the DTH ferratas. It will show you how to short pitch trip members up a via ferrata in locations where it would be less than advantageous to fall, where trip members are clearly concerned about their ability to climb without falling, or where trip members are struggling to use the via ferrata lanyards correctly. Via ferrata is a safe and fun way to experience the vertical environment. It is the perfect gateway for hikers to get involved with climbing.

Cost: $125 for the one day course.
