THE BEST AST 2 COURSE EVER. WE HIRED THE BEST GUIDE (Kirsten Knechtel and Natalie Renner), MADE THE COURSE 2 WEEKENDS IN TWO AWESOME LOCATIONS AND HAVE 4 FIELD DAYS INSTEAD OF THE STANDARD 3. PRICE IS SET AT BREAKEVEN as always - YOU WON'T FIND A BETTER DEAL!
AST 2 Course. This course will take place over two weekends. The first weekend (Jan 10-12) will be out of Lake Louise and start with a Friday afternoon classroom session. Saturday and Sunday will be spent out in the field.
The next weekend will be Jan 25-26 and will be based out of Golden, with the main destination being Rogers Pass. Students are encouraged to ski tour without the guide on Friday Jan 24, with course field days being Saturday and Sunday and an evening session on Saturday night.
If you are looking to get the most out of an AST 2 course, this is the course for you.

Required Items to Bring: |
You are responsible to bring your
regular
ski
touring gear and YOU NEED TO PROVIDE YOUR
OWN
TEXT
AND FIELD BOOKS.
Beacon, probe, shovel. Regular ski
touring
gear. Warm puffy for standing around, two
pairs
of
gloves for snow pit work.
You will need a copy of the book: "Avalanche
Skills
Training Handbook" by James FLoyer and
Keith
Robine. You will also need the "Decision
Making in Avalanche Terrain", AST 2 Field Book, and the Avaluator
2.0,
which you will need to purchase yourself
if you
don't already have them. Its best to
order
these books well ahead of time.
Additional recommended reading:
"Staying
Alive
in Avalanche Terrain" by Bruce Tremper.

The total cost is $649 and includes the course fee. Accommodation will be paid separately by the participants.

There are no refunds. Once you have
paid you
are responsible to find a replacement if
you no
longer wish to attend. After signing up on
the
wait list please wait until the
coordinator
responds to you with regards to your
eligibility
for the course. They will then instruct
you to
pay
for the trip. Payment can be made the
Paypal
button below.
Please forward your receipt to the trip
coordinator and they will add you to the
trip.
Cancellation Policy If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
