Itinerary:
This day is designed to really emphasize efficient steep ice technique. Learn tips on how to Swing, kick, and move most effectively on steep terrain. This includes working the triangle, monkey hang, and twisting your hips. Practice drills and get one-on- one coaching.

Always wanted try mixed climbing, or need to find ways to beat the pump and climb more efficiently? Not sure how you are supposed to hang on rock with these pointy things? Sarah is a world class mixed climber and will provide instruction and personalized pointers. Where? TBD

Cost: $136.25

First paid, first on the course. This is a priority for women course until two weeks prior to the course start. The goal is to provide women's specific courses, so long as we have enough participants. If the course is not full at the two week mark, men will be able to attend if space is available. We welcome men to register anytime but do not send in payment. We will contact the men on the list if spots are available two weeks out.

This trip will be a first-come-first-serve and this is based on who can deliver their $136.25 (GST included) Please pay using the "Buy Now" button.

Required Items to Bring:
Harness, helmet, ice tools, crampons pre- adjusted to boots, boots suitable for ice climbing, locking carabiner and belay device. Sarah may have more requirements.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Warm belay jacket,extra pair of gloves,thermos with hot drinks,lunch, sun screen and camera.

Notes:
The course will be taught by Sarah Hueniken, a full ACMG Alpine Guide. Sarah Hueniken has been living and guiding in Canmore for the past 15 years. As a full ACMG Alpine guide, she spends her summers guiding rock and alpine and her winters guiding ice and mixed routes. Having climbed for over 20 years, Sarah has traveled and worked in various places throughout the US, Mexico, South America and Asia to explore the mountains of the world. Highlights have included a first ascent of a 6000m peak bordering Tibet (Sachun 5.10+ M5), new ice lines in Iceland and Canada, first ascent of sea stacks in Newfoundland, Spray Ice, and participating in various climbing competitions. Sarah also works with Chicks with Picks, NOLS, and is an Outdoor Research, Hot Chillys and Sterling Rope sponsored athlete.

Please review our participant responsibility guidelines! *Note: Cancellation Policy: Due to the popularity of these clinics, full payment must be received to book your spot. There will be no refund for cancellations. Courses will run regardless of weather unless the guide deems conditions unsafe then a back-up option may be executed. This is to be decided by the guide the evening before.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
