Itinerary:

This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship Program) organized by the ACC Calgary section jointly with ACMG Guide Brent Peters and PeakStratagem. Either Brent or one of the PeakStratagem assistant guides will be teaching this event. The cost is $196 and includes 2 days (August 17 and 18th) of mentorship with a guide.

This event is for climbers who want to learn how to climb multi pitch routes safely and effectively. Over the weekend you will learn how to build multi pitch anchors, how to tie into the anchor, bring up a second, practice effective rope management, and safely descend a route. The event will also cover the basics of Rock Rescue. No one plans to have an accident while out climbing but do you know what to do in the event of one? Techniques covered will include rope ascension using 2 prusiks or 1 prusik with a progress capture; counter balance rope ascension; releasable load transfers; counterbalance rappels; and tandem rappels.

By the end of this event you will have the fundamental skills needed to to safely and efficiently tackle multi pitch climbing.

Pre-requisites: Climbers signing up for this course should have some lead climbing experience and be able to safely belay both lead and top rope as well as be able to rappel. Climbers should also know how to build and clean an anchor.

Required Items to Bring:
Harness, helmet, 4 x locking carabiners, 2 X non-lockers, ATC belay device, 1 x 120cm sling, 2 x 5m cordelette (10kN accessory cord - 7mm or high strength 6mm), 1 x 2m cordelette (10kN accessory cord - 7mm or high strength 6mm), Please feel free to bring any other gear you may have questions about using. A formal gear list will be provided closer to the event.
