Shame, but we lost two participants due to injury. Reach out to me quickly to join this cool trip
The premier route through the range is a ski
traverse around the headwaters of Erie Creek
from Bombi Summit in the south to Porto Rico in
the east. The route follows the height of land
throughout and passes over the summits of
several Bonnington Range peaks and through
outstanding ski touring terrain. Excellent
skiing throughout, challenging navigation and
will make you smile!
This will be a four day traverse with
overnights at Grassy Mountain Hut, Steed Hut,
and finally the Copper Mountain Hut. If you
like lux huts, this may not be for you. If you
like the vibe of vintage huts with plenty of
character this is the trip. Not allot of elbow
room in the huts...
Total distance is approximately 45km with
2,500m elevation gain, and 2,800m elevation
loss.
Further details on the traverse can be found
at: www.backcountryskiingcanada.com/index.php?
p=page&page_id=Bonningtons. Plenty of trip
reports online.
Information on the huts can be found at:
www.kootenaymountaineering.bc.ca/club-
info/cabins/index.html
The cost of the huts is $55/person. A portion
of your fee is in support of the trip leader.
