Itinerary:

Rundlehorn Multipitch – Sport climbing – AMP 2

This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship Program) and is organized by the ACC Calgary section jointly with ACMG Guide Brent Peters and PeakStratagem. Either Brent or one of the PeakStratagem assistant guides will be teaching this event.

This event is for climbers who want to put into practice their Multi-pitch basic skills learned on previous events and put them into action on a real multi-pitch climb. If you do not have basic multi-pitch skills this event is not for you. The focus of the trip would be leading and following on an actual climb to gain some real experience and apply your skills in a setting where you can be coached through it to be ready for bigger climbs. This is also a great way to start to learn route finding skills on rock. This trip is perfect for people who have learned multi-pitch techniques but have limited or no experience leading a multi- pitch climb. This requires a lower participant to instructor ratio for the learning and mentorship aspect of learning and for safety. This is not a guided climb however a guide will coach you to help you learn. This event also presents opportunities for more experienced Multi-pitch climbers to work on developing as a climber and to work on next level trip management skills.    Coming into the course you need to demonstrate skills including building and tying into anchors, bringing up a second, effective rope management, and how to safely descend a route.

Cost:   $208  for the one day course. This event is a great deal compared to other similar events.

Pre-requisites: Climbers signing up for this course should be competent lead climbers on rock up to 5.8, be able to safely belay both lead and top rope, and be able to rappel even though we might not rappel the route depending on how busy it is. Climbers must know how to build and clean an equalized anchor.
