Itinerary:

Participants: This trip is open for people with a variety of skills/experience who want to be competent & contributing members of an alpine team. Maybe you have taken an alpine related course, but haven't been out much without a guide. Could be you haven't alpine climbed for a few years and would like to shake the rust off in a supportive environment. Maybe you've already enjoyed mountain activities like rock or ice climbing, scrambling, or skiing and would like to step it up and apply that to Alpine climbing.

The Plan:

We'll head up a moderate alpine climb (most likely Boundary Peak) with the trip leaders acting as rope leaders. This peak involves a mixture of pitched out ice climbing ((WI2+), glacier travel, and easy scrambling. Expect to be on the move for a 10-12 hour day. We'll be moving consistently at a moderate pace & focusing on efficient team transitions, but won't be expecting to set any speed records. This trip is posted for Saturday, but if weather conditions dictate, we may move to Sunday.

Prerequisites: Participants should have some previous exposure to travelling in roped terrain (glacier travel and/or rock/ice climbing), and be able to competently belay a leader. Please send a summary of relevant experience/courses to susan.twitchell(at)gmail.com.

Required Items to Bring:
Alpine gear will be discussed with the team.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Stoke, sense of humor

*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
