Itinerary:

This trip is part of the BITS (Backcountry Introduction to Skiing) program. BITS participants who are signed up for the Lake Louise weekend will get first priority, followed by other BITS participants. This is the sunday trip, I will be staying at the hostel, so meeting point will be Lake Louise Alpine Hostel in the lounge above restaurant for 7h30am.

It will be a moderate to fast pace, with the destination TBD based on weather and avalanche conditions. Likely in the Lake Louise or Icefields Parkway area. ideas: Cirque Peak area / Crowfoot Mountain / Mount Field. I expect good downhill skiing abilities from all participants (confident skiing black diamond, mandatory AST1, and expected something between +1000/1500m gain depending on snow condition so a good physical condition is expected.

Those BITS participants that registered for the overnight stay as a group at the Lake Louise hostel will head to Lake Louise at end of day. Others will head back to Calgary or wherever. Carpool arrangements will be made once participants are confirmed.

Participants are encouraged to contact the leader if there are questions or suggestions for things to be reviewed/practiced/discussed during the day.
Required Items to Bring:
Splitboard or Alpine Touring skis, skins, boots, poles, warm clothing (hat, glove/mitts+spare,jacket - soft shell, puffy and shell, pants), food, water, sunglasses. Avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel, ski straps.

Notes:
This Ski trip is for people who know how to downhill ski/board but are new to the backcountry, new to the club, or the Rockies
