Itinerary:

This mentorship event is part of the AMP (Alpine Mentorship) program and is will be lead by ACMG Guide Brent Peters. Brent is a CSIA Level 2 Instructor (working on his Level 3). The goal of this event is to improve your downhill skiing technique in back country conditions. It is run at a ski resort to maximize your downhill time.

The cost of this event is $85 (including GST). You will also have to buy a lift ticket for the day.

The day will start with a warm up run and an introduction to PPTTEE, the 6 zones that we can be in - physical, psychological, tactical, technical, environment, equipment. We will ski without packs for the morning and work drills to achieve balanced centred skiing. Some of the skiing will be videoed and reviewed over lunch. Steeper skiing after lunch with or without a pack depending on how the group is advancing. Video skiing, afternoon review and ski out.

Please note, AMP events are coaching/mentorship and not courses or a typical guided day. You should be prepared as you would for any non-guided ACC ski tour.<\p>

After signing up please send Ivars an email detailing your downhill ski ability and fitness level (email: ifinvers@shaw.ca). AFTER you have been approved you need to send a payment to treasurerAMP@acccalgary.ca and email Ivars the confirmation of payment. If you don't pay within 2 days of being selected we will move onto the next participant. If you have any questions please email or text Ivars at 403-612-2904.

Please review our participant responsibility guidelines!

There will be no refund for cancellations. Courses will run regardless of weather unless the guide deems conditions unsafe then a back-up option may be executed. This is to be decided by the guide the evening before.
*Cancellation Policy*: If a participant is unable to attend a paid course or trip, there will be no refund unless the participant finds a suitable replacement that is acceptable to the trip coordinator. Acceptable waiting list candidates will have priority. It will then be the participant's responsibility to recover funds from the replacement. If the coordinator cancels an event, participants get a refund (less any non-recoverable costs). Note that ACC National does not refund hut fees due to weather, delay, closures, or any other reasons. The Calgary Section of the ACC is a not for profit club and we only charge attendees what it costs us to provide courses or trips.
